Chorus of Sonne, by Rammstein. My first post.

I have only recently begun this hobby, one which I will likely be able to dedicate little time to, but I think it's going to hang around and might be of interest to others. I've been slowly teaching myself ancient Sumerian for a while now, including written cuneiform. As an extension of that I have begun translating songs into the ancient language.

My first example is very basic, being the chorus of Rammstein's Sonne. I was at the time reflecting on the contrast between the lyrics and the music video, which would not be apparent to one who does not understand at least a little German. So it occurred to me to translate at least part of the song into Sumerian, which so few people can read.

Here, then, is the chorus in amateurish, broken Sumerian.

𒀸 one
ud ku-nu 𒌓 𒆪𒉡 the sun approached
min 𒈫 two
ud ku-nu 𒌓 𒆪𒉡 the sun approached
𒌍 three
dalla mulan unu ane me 𒈦𒄘𒃼 𒀯𒀭 𒋼𒀕 𒀀𒉈 𒈨 she was the most bright/fierce star
limmu 𒇹 four
ud ku-nu 𒌓 𒆪𒉡 the sun approached

Next I plan to translate a whole song. Either Rosenrot by Rammstein or Goodnight Demon Slayer by Voltaire.
